When was the last time that you spent the day pursuing your passion for photography? If you can't remember, then it's time for you to get away for our newest photography workshop in beautiful Port Townsend.
If you have never been to Port Townsend, which is a mere 40 miles northwest of Seattle, you will see why this is a photographer's paradise. Port Townsend is located at the northeast tip of Washington's Olympic Peninsula. Founded in 1851, this city is home to many Victorian buildings that were built in the 19th century. Surrounded mostly by water with a spectacular view of the mountains, this city lends itself to being one of the most popular places for tourism with activities year round, including the Wooden Boat Festival, movie festivals and jazz festivals.
Inspired by our Global Immersion Tours concept, we offer this workshop at a destination location with the single-minded goal of making you a better photographer. We do this through a combination of lecture, examples and plenty of opportunities to develop your skills as we tour in and around downtown Port Townsend. Capture your own beautiful images under the guidance of professional photographer, Jeffrey Fong. We will limit the size of the class so each attendee will get ample one-on-one instruction throughout the day.
We will begin at Port Townsend's most unique 50s-themed restaurant. Shortly thereafter, we will head out to continue our photographic adventure. From the Victorian buildings on Water Street to the shoreline to majestic mountain and water views to the marina and last, but not least, to more of the unique merchants, we will learn ways to best approach each photographic subject. Once we have finished taking our photos, we will head back to The Wine Seller for fabulous wine tasting, hosted by the owner. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available, if you prefer. While you are enjoying your beverage of choice, we'll do a critique of the attendees' favorite images. This will give everyone a final learning opportunity to gain valuable insight on how to improve their work. What a way to end a fabulous photography experience!
Workshop participants should have a working knowledge of their camera. We will spend most of the time working on composition techniques as we encounter a variety of subjects. There will be a 45-minute break in the middle of the workshop for attendees to eat lunch at one of the many restaurants in town.
Why not make it a weekend? You might want to spend the weekend to further explore all that Port Townsend has to offer. There are many hotels, bed & breakfasts and owner-operated rental units to choose from. If you need resources, we are happy to provide them to you.
